Première conférence Stéfan Sinclair-CRIHN

Michael Sinatra, directeur du CRIHN, vous convie à la première conférence Stéfan Sinclair-CRIHN qui aura lieu le lundi 13 décembre au Carrefour des Arts et des Sciences de l’Université de Montréal en présence de Frédéric Bouchard, doyen de la Faculté des Arts et des Sciences de l’Université de Montréal et Mary Hunter, doyenne de la Faculté des arts de McGill University.

Nommée en l’honneur de Stéfan Sinclair, qui fut un des membres fondateurs du CRIHN en 2013, cette première conférence annuelle sera donnée par Kim Martin, professeure adjointe en histoire à l’Université de Guelph, et sera suivie en après-midi d’une table-ronde sur l’impact des travaux de Stéfan.

L’événement aura lieu en présence sur le campus (dans le respect des mesures sanitaires en place) et sera diffusé en ligne en simultané. (L’événement est gratuit mais une inscription est obligatoire via Eventbrite).

Michael Sinatra, director of CRIHN, is proud to invite you to the first Stéfan Sinclair-CRIHN lecture on Monday 13 December at the Carrefour des Arts et des Sciences de l’Université de Montréal with Dean Frédéric Bouchard, (Faculté des Arts et des Sciences de l’Université de Montréal) and Dean Mary Hunter (Faculty of Arts, McGill University).

Named in honour of Stéfan Sinclair, one of the founders of CRIHN in 2013, this first annual conference will feature a keynote delivered by Kim Martin, assistant professor of history at the University of Guelph, and will be followed by a round-table on the impact of Stéfan’s work.

The event will take place on campus (in compliance with sanitary measures) and will be broadcast live. (The event is free but registration is mandatory via EventBrite.)

Résumé de la conférence / Abstract of keynote « Seeing Things Through »:

Those who do digital humanities work have many things in common: we are both novices and experts in different areas of our field, learning from and concurrently educating each other; we engage with multiple communities (DH, our respective ‘home’ disciplines, and the wider public); and we’re endlessly trying to fund and sustain the projects and infrastructure we build.  As a result of these things, we’re very, very busy. In this lecture, Kim Martin will invite us to slow down and reflect on how this busyness, this constant push to move forward and innovate, affects the DH community. Through an introspective journey on her time as graduate student, post-doc, and assistant professor, Martin will remind us that keeping an eye on our past is as important as looking ahead and that it is only through remembering those for whom we do our work that we can truly become the kind of community we need.
