Day of DH 2023

centerNet is very excited to share the news that Day of DH 2023 will take place on Wednesday 31 May online, with the hashtag #dayofdh2023 (e.g on Mastodon, Twitter, and this website). This year, we are adopting the theme of “humanizing data.” As the humanities are under pressure internationally, how can DH centers respond to diverse challenges? We are particularly interested in hearing about strategies from the global DH community about their political, financial, or pedagogical challenges and their strategies for overcoming them. We ask the DH community to communicate what they do on Twitter or Mastodon, to share with the global community more about their DH projects, teaching, data, and collaborations; we also invite all centers and groups to organize events that bring our local communities together. We hope that you can join us to share what you do as a digital humanist, how and what you have been doing in DH, and how you are making your data more responsive to non-DH communities. How do we ensure that the data we collect and build are responsive to non-quantitative elements? Can DH help the broader humanities to meet our shared challenges in specific ways?

What are you working on? Is there a project you love or want to disseminate to a wider public? What are you planning to do in the coming years to bring more people into your projects or make? What are you looking forward to? Day of DH 2023 will be coordinated by the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur les humanités numériques in Québec (http://crihn.org) to share events and activities but also short videos about your center’s activities! (All the information will be stored on the center’s website.) Please fill out the online form by Monday 22 May if you want to get listed in the program (the former will be unveiled on Wednesday 24 May).

New this year: students are invited to present a poster on their work on the Day of DH to be shared globally (posters are to be hosted locally but links will be made available on the CRIHN website). Three awards will be offered to the best posters by categories (undergraduate, MA, and PhD students). Students need to fill out the online form to provide information about their posters by Monday 29 May.

Please join us by using the hashtag: #DayofDH2023. Day of DH will begin at midnight UTC+14 and end at 11:59 UTC-12.
